During the New Year holiday period, the entire Monte-Carlo Ballet Company will be immersed in "Casse-Noisette Compagnie" (Nutcracker Company), the full-length ballet by Jean-Christophe Maillot. First seen in 2013, but now revised, this production will present both original and absolutely new choreography. Furthermore, this marks the first time that Jean-Christophe Maillot has invited Russian dancers to take part in his full production staged for his Company.

Olga Smirnova and Artem Ovcharenko have already performed excerpts from Maillot's "Romeo et Juliette" for Gala Russe in September, 2015. Now these two incredible Bolshoi artists are rehearsing the completely new versions of Romeo and Juliet, created specially for them, as characters that will be incorporated in Maillot's "Casse-Noisette Compagnie". The ballet is filled with nods to several iconic characters created by Maillot throughout his career, offering an intimate glimpse into the choreographer’s work.

Olga and Artem arrived in Monaco last Monday and have already started working with Jean-Christophe on the new choreography for the ballet.

The Casse-Noisette Compagnie – 2016 will be performed over 6 evenings from 29 December to 04 January at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco.
